Addison City Manager Wes Pierson announced today the appointment of Paul Spencer as Addison’s new Police Chief. Spencer, a 20-year veteran of Addison’s Police Department, has been serving as Acting Police Chief since May, 2015 when longtime Police Chief Ron Davis retired.
Addison executed a national search for this high-profile, important role. “The caliber of candidates interested in this position was very impressive,” said Addison City Manager Wes Pierson. “Chief Spencer’s experience with the Town, his vision for the department and the respect he has earned from his officers and the community during his tenure with Addison really stood out during the process. I am confident in his abilities and look forward to working closely with him to ensure the continued success of the Addison Police Department.”
Spencer, who began his law enforcement career in Addison in 1995 as a rookie officer, is also a Marine Corps veteran. “My vision for the Addison Police Department is to make it the premier law enforcement agency in the region,” said Chief Spencer. “I have tremendous respect for the City Council, the resident and business community, my fellow Addison employees and, of course, the entire Addison Police Department and I am humbled by the opportunity to continue to serve them as Addison’s new Police Chief.”
Chief Spencer earned his Bachelor of Science from Amberton University in Garland and his Master of Public Administration from the University of North Texas. He lives in Plano with his wife and two teenage children.
Congratulations to Chief Spencer!
