Over the weekend, Addison Firefighters JJ Kaiser, Ben Douglass, Bryan Murley, Shawn Ainsworth and Austin Simmons responded to a call regarding a choking victim at BJ’s Restaurant at 4901 Belt Line Road. Fortunately prior to their arrival, Zac Ayres, a server at the restaurant, recognized the situation and quickly administered the Heimlich Maneuver which dislodged the food that was blocking the victim’s airway.
Today, the Addison Fire Department recognized Zac for his life-saving efforts by presenting him with an Award of Exemplary Action, an Addison Fire Department patch and a challenge coin.
It’s not every day you get to save someone’s life – great work, Zach!
