On Wednesday, October 24 during the annual tenant appreciation lunch, Addison Airport recognized its 60th anniversary by unveiling a book by Blake Bleakley entitled Addison Airport: Serving Business Aviation for 60 Years, 1957 – 2017. The airport opened on October 18, 1957, and the original plan was to build a modern executive-type private airport on what had been a 400-acre family-owned farm. Today, Addison is a pre-eminent general aviation airport in the country. It was purchased by the Town in 1976 and is now the Addison’s single largest asset with an annual economic impact in excess of $370 million. Happy Birthday, Addison Airport!
