Addison Fire Chief David Jones announced at the June 26 City Council Meeting that the Addison Fire Department has received the highest Public Protection Classification (PPC) rating awarded by the Insurance Services Office (ISO) and approved by the Texas Department of Insurance. Addison joins only 63 communities in Texas in achieving this prestigious Class 1 rating. There are only 305 Class 1 ratings nationwide.
ISO has surveyed over 49,000 communities nationwide and classifies each on a scale from one to ten. Communities with the very best systems for water distribution, fire department equipment, and firefighting personnel, as well as fire alarm facilities, receive a rating of 1. A PPC rating has a direct bearing on the cost of property insurance for homes and business in the community. Ultimately, this recognition of Addison’s outstanding fire protection not only means better fire protection, but also lower property insurance rates. The effective date of the new classification is August 1, 2018.
